Our Story

Our Story

The Beginning

After a visit to Annapolis Senior High School’s Wall of Honor with the Glen Burnie High School (GBHS) Business Advisory Board in 2007, Pat Kusuda conceived the idea to highlight GBHS alumni role models to inspire students across the Anne Arundel County community. Mrs. Kusuda, with the help of community leader, Barbara Moeller, and then-GBHS Principal, Sam Salami, explored the feasibility of creating the GBHS Alumni Wall of Honor (AWoH) to recognize the rich history of outstanding achievements and significant contributions GBHS Alumni make to our community, state, nation, and world.

Inductees to the Wall of Honor will be people we can all be proud of and strive to emulate.
- Pat Kusada, 2008 chair

Their efforts led to the creation of the AWoH committee, a group of GBHS administrators, graduates, active members of the school community, and those connected to the Glen Burnie community through civic engagement. Monthly meetings began in the Principal’s Conference Room in 2007 where the committee worked to define criteria for induction, officially set February 26, 2008. After receiving nominations, the first Induction Ceremony occurred on October 10, 2008 when eight alumni were inducted and their names placed on the AWoH.

Our Mission

Our Mission

The purpose of the Committee is to support Glen Burnie High School and the community by providing a platform that acknowledges the extraordinary accomplishments of former graduates.

The Committee works with the GBHS faculty and student body to encourage and identify ways to use the people, funding, and activities associated with the Committee to increase motivation and focus of current and future students.

We are always looking for new committee members to bring diverse views to the Glen Burnie Alumni Wall of Honor Committee to flourish. Join us!

We need your help.

The Wall of Honor

The Alumni Wall of Honor

The Wall is composed of a series of framed displays with each inductee’s name, accomplishments, high school graduation picture and a current photograph.

The Wall is located in the Media Building at GBHS, which was selected due to its proximity to the cafeteria and the high traffic flow of students throughout the day.
